Dark = Far

Those who admire the rock group Pink Floyd seldom think about the meaning of the title of their most famous LP, “The Dark Side of the Moon”. Most people are astronomically-challenged, I guess. These days, a quick trip to Wikipedia will tell you that “The dark side of the Moon can refer to the far side of the Moon that is permanently turned away from the Earth, although it receives approximately the same amount of light as the near side of the moon.” So the phrase really means “the far side of the moon”, because there is no “dark side” of the moon. That’s what loud rock and roll does: it damages your hearing, and it damages your brain too.
